Balanced Lifestyle.

A healthy lifestyle is made up of a healthy balanced diet, regular exercise, good work-life balance and sleep with the absence of harmful drugs, alcohol, tobacco, illness and stress.

A healthy, happy mind can contribute to good health. Balanced living means having a positive outlook, focusing on good habits, and lowering stress.

While focusing on a healthy lifestyle by exercising and eating right is great for your body, balanced living means protecting your mental and emotional health, too.

In many cases our clients come to us when they have had their lifestyle priorities all wrong before entering our gym. We have to prioritise our lives correctly so that we put our health first not our social life.

Most of our lives are broken up into 6 components; its how you priorities each of them that counts.

HEALTH: These are our BASIC NEEDS OF SURVIVAL without these elements you cannot live. This has to be EVERYONES number ONE priority. The more importance you place on this, the better each other facet of your life will become. You only have one body your whole life take care of it.

Your Basic survival health needs are WHAT YOU EAT and how much you sleep and both play a huge role on how the rest of your life balances out. I believe in the 80-/20 rule for my own nutrition. Basically that means 80% I’m eating healthy the other 20% I like to treat my self with a Pepsi max, dessert or a big ass burger. Thats my balance but EVERYONE is different so find what works for you and your lifestyle but you always want to be putting more healthy foods into your mouth than crap.

Sleeping is so crucial to how your day plays out. If you don’t get enough sleep you start the day on the back foot straight away and you feel like you’re chasing your tail for the rest of the week. Always try to get a minimum of 6–8 hours sleep a night so that might mean you have to tell your partner you’ll miss that episode of MAFS.. you are welcome.

LOVE: These are the people you choose to spend your QUALITY TIME with. The people you want to be around in the good and the bad times. Surrounding yourself with positive people is essential to having a healthy lifestyle. Think of the 5 closest people to you in your life, they are who you want to be a positive influence on your life. Those 5 affect everything in your life from what you eat, how you think and how much money you earn. Choose them wisely.

CAREER: If you love your job, that’s great and if you don’t, what are you doing about it? “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” Don’t let your fear hold you back from you chasing your dreams and pursuing what you are passionate about. Most of us spend 2/3 of our life working. thats way too much time spent doing something you hate, life is too short to be spending that much time in a negative way.

FITNESS & WELLBEING: is not just beneficial for the body but it is just as important for the mind, as exercise is a prescription for depression, anxiety, stress, andm ore. We all love training because of the physical benefits however, not enough is mentioned about the mental, psychological, and cognitive benefits of training — and there are plenty. Another fantastic release for the mind is meditation as it helps you to slow your breath, quiet your mind, and find peace, it can be beneficial physically, mentally, and emotionally. Either of these things aren’t time consuming, you could train for 45min a day and that would be plenty, and/or you could meditate for 15–30min a day and both would have profound benefits on your life as a whole.

SOCIAL LIFE: Now this is a tricky one as I believe this is where plenty of people get it wrong. Don’t get me wrong I believe everyone NEEDS a social life but where I think most people get it wrong is how and where they socialise and the priority it takes in their life. The environment you choose to socialise in completely alters how you are socialising. So many blokes think the only way to “catch up with the boys” is to have a “couple” at the pub. Dinners don’t have to be just at the pub. And there are other social options like local evening sports (indoor soccer, touch, Oztag etc.)

These days, social life has way too big of an impact on how we live our life. With social media everyone is too worried about getting the perfect photo instead of just enjoying the moment. Many times we see people put their social lives before their LOVE ONES , CAREER and even THEIR HEALTH.

YOU TIME: EVERYONE needs bit of YOU time. It might be reading, walking, taking a holiday with that special someone in your life. These are the times where you can be selfish and step back from your life and do something just FOR YOU! We live with ourselves forever so lets take some time to get to know ourselves and do things that are just for us. Be selfish. Enjoy you time.

Every person is COMPLETELY different so how Jimbo from down the street lives his life is completely different to how Katie from school lives their life. So don’t compare yours to anyone elses. Focus on what works best for you and put a plan in place for how you are going to love your life with the best balance, then all you have to do to action it. I always hear “I know what I have to do its just about doing it”. Don’t hold yourself back, live your life with the best balance that suits YOU.
